Your Joys & Concerns for Sunday, April 30th

Our format for Sunday didn’t really let us get to Joys and Concerns for Maranatha. So if you’d like to email me your Joys or Concerns I will use my ‘cut and paste’ skills to include them into the newsletter for the week. If you can, please get that information by Monday evening (May 1st.), it would be much appreciated. The same goes for Missions if there are any updates.

if you send anything along, please use this email address — blevins_dan09

Thanks!
Dan

Maranatha Newsletter

Here’s the class newsletter for the week!

My thanks to Scott for doing the letter for the last two weeks. He’ll be on the spot to do that again in May, for which I’m appreciative.

This week our lesson was given by the CEO of Methodist Manor, Rev. Steve Dickie. He spoke on Repentance and Leadership.

Next week, the speaker is an old friend, Rabbi Sherman. We will be in Community Hall.

On Sunday, Mary Bundren asked for prayers for Clark’s Dad who was not doing well. We’ve since learned that John Bundren passed away Sunday evening at Oklahoma Methodist Manor with his family at his side. We are very sorry for Clark and the Bundren family.

See you next Sunday.

Parkinson’s Rally Walk and 5K Run

Dear Maranatha class,

Wow, it’s hard to believe that another year has gone by since i sent out a letter like this. April is Parkinson’s awareness month.A fact that you may not be familiar with. Unfortunately I am very aware of this because I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in February 2012. Jeff and I got the diagnosis together and we both commented after the fact that it was good to have a name to go with all the symptoms I was having. At least we finally knew what to call it and how to attack the problem.

And attack we did. We got hooked up with the Parkinson’s Foundation of Oklahoma. It is a group that provides services to families impacted by the disease across the state of Oklahoma.
I participate in a Loud Crowd group that works on keeping your voice loud and strong, Ready to Fight, a boxing group that meets 3 days a week to help with balance and eye hand coordination and finally, Pedal for Parkinson’s a cycle spin class that is only for parkinson’s patients. PFO also offers free workshops across the state, that focus on advances in medical treatment, physical therapy and healthy living.

Armed with this information, I am asking if you would like to join my team, “Team Jules” and participate in the third year of ‘Parkinson’s Rally Walk and 5K run.’ Team Jules hopes to raise $6,500. Please click the link below to join my team today. if you can’t join the team, please consider making a donation. The event is Sunday April 23rd at 1:00 with pre-race festivities and the run and walk begins at 2:00.

Thank you,

Julie Allen

Maranatha Class Newsletter April 16

It was a great day at Boston Avenue Church. In addition to the inspirational Easter services, we had a joyous time having brunch with members from the Journey Class. Rest assured that as Maranatha folks become older and more feeble, the millennial members in Journey Class will continue to grow and serve the church and the world in powerful ways.

Rev. Steve Dickie will provide the teaching next Sunday then on April 30 Rabbi Sherman will deliver a message to us and others in the Community Hall.

Dan will be back in the saddle next week for the newsletter. I gave it my best shot.

Thank you message from the Spencer family

Since many in our class will not be at the brunch Sunday, I wanted everyone to see the beautiful card (a photograph by Brenda Spencer) and heartfelt thank you from Laurie Spencer and the Spencer family. Indeed, you are an amazing class.

I received this message from Debra Morgan who asked me to pass this along to the class -Dan, our Caranatha yesterday was such a blessing to the Spenser family. It was a true testament of God’s love and care.Could you send out a "Thank You" to the class via email from our Caranatha Team?

Maranatha News

Hello Maranatha classmates. Here is the newsletter for this week.

Certainly a sad time. Brenda Spencer’s services will be at the church on Tuesday, April 4th at 11am. Caranatha has made the arraignments to feed the family.

Dr. Gary Peluso-Verdend provided our lesson this week. We covered the changes in American society and religion from the past several decades up to the present.
He will be back next week.

Thanks,

Dan Blevins
