“Hope begins in the dark, the subborn hope that
if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the

My apologies for the late message this week. But, you should know that we had a great last Sunday at Maranatha. Our guest speaker was Lonnie Vaughn, who was instrumental in initiating the Tulsa Care Care Clinic. Lonnie not only spoke of the Clinic but also delivered a meaningful Bible lesson that related faith leads to actions. The Car Clinic serves the needs of many in our community who could not otherwise afford to have dependable transportation for work and family. The story and the Car Clinic excited many of our members in the class. In anticipation of this interest, Denny and Suzy Meredith-Orr along with Ed and Judith Payton (who originally invited Lonnie to our class) have organized a mission opportunity benefiting the Car Clinic. Beginning this coming Sunday and throughout the month, Maranatha members will be able to become a part of the “garage” by purchasing items needed for the Clinic’s operation. Suzy and Denny will explain this opportunity to us on Sunday. See Angel Car in Classroom or click here
On Sunday, we recognized two anniversaries, Sarah & Sam Smith (10/19) and Linda (Morrissey) & John Nicks (10/23). “Happy Anniversary” to both ciouples. No birthdays this week.
Our greeters who brought refreshments were Skip & Paula Scott and David & Kendall Carpenter; thank you! Yummy! Next week, Mickey & Carol Maus (guilty snacks/cleanup) and Mike Stephenson & Denise Graham (healthy snacks/set up) will greet and bring refreshments for the class.
Visitors were plentiful, and that’s great. They were Sarah & Jim Young, Michael Lane, Eddie & Connie Green (Michael is Eric’s brother), Ashley Butterworth, Chris McGee, and Alexis Brownlee. If you know these folks, please let them know they are always welcome at Maranatha.
Denny Meredith-Orr and Jim Embry (oh boy, what a pair!) made certain that we knew that one of the auction parties, a Halloween Party, is coming up on October 30th. If you bought passage to this party, please RSVP; if you want to go but didn’t originally buy-in, your welcome and should contact Denny to let them know you want to “dress up” and be ghoulish! William Meyer offered a thoughtful prayer following announcements, joys and concerns. Please keep our VIM team in your prayers.
From previous messages this week, you know that Mary Staat’s father died, and that Kenny King is struggling with illness. Keep these members and their families in your prayers, as well.
On Sunday, our own members, Beverly and Mark North will teach a lesson entitled, “The Lift One (Two) Project”. On Sunday, October 31st, a fifth Sunday of the month, we will have a Brunch where no lesson or presentation is currrently planned.
See you Sunday!! Ya’ll come!
