Missional Renaissance

Class,

Due to the advance scheduling of speakers, Maranatha will not be participating in the Missional Renaissance study on September 6 & 13. Instead, we will hear from Phillips Theological Seminary President, Gary Peluso. On September 20 & 27, Marita Morgan and Audra Fogle will use Missional Renaissance in their lessons.

Should you prefer to be a part of the church wide study the first two weeks of this month, check the church paper for other classes who are participating.

Peace,

Jim

You are IN THE LOOP at Boston Avenue!

Class,

This is a newsletter (first edition) published by Audra Fogle, Welcoming Ministries. It is sent to all Sunday school presidents who in-turn share with their classes.

It is very interesting and to the point, one page.

Peace,

Jim

Thank you for being "In The Loop" for Boston Avenue Church! Read on to know more about new members, special guests and upcoming happenings to share with your class!
Welcome to the Loop Group
You are now"In The Loop"with Welcoming Ministries. Thank you for saying YES! to being in partnership with the Welcoming Committee! We are excited to work with our Sunday School Classes to welcome our guests and follow up with our members. Each class has enthusiastically designated a volunteer (or two) to represent their class.

Here’s what you can expect each week:

1- Visitor Cards in your classroom.

2- A weekly email with specific information for you to share with your class as you see fit.

3- Personal follow-up and partnership with any guests who may visit- this is a team effort!

4- A partnership approach to growing an invitational and welcoming culture not only with new people but our existing congregation too!

Welcome our newest member

Tulsa University Grad

Tommy McKone

Tommy (2/11/93) comes to us from Kirkwood United Methodist Church in St. Louis, MO. He recently graduated from Tulsa University and is working as an Engineer with TD Williamson. Tommy loves all sports and plays Lacrosse, Softball, Golf and likes to run. He is actively involved in our new Young Adult After Hours lunch group and was a great addition to the Softball Team this summer! Tommy is looking for community in a church home and was invited by Mason Morgan and his family. You can welcome Tommy via email at thm370 or drop him a note at 1341 S Florence Tulsa, OK.

Next Discover Boston Avenue Lunch Coming Soon!

On September 13th from 12:00-1:30 in the Asbury Classroom, Welcoming Ministries will be hosting our next lunch for guests and new members. Dana Solomon is our well-organized coordinator so volunteering is easy! If you would like to volunteer to set up, greet, host a table or serve on the clean up or follow up crew, you can email Dana at djsolomon59 . If you would like to recommend a guest for a personal invitation to attend the lunch, contact audrafogle. This fun event has been well-received by both volunteers and guests alike! It’s fun sharing what you love about Boston Avenue and getting to know our new people!

Every Member, Every Sunday! There may be a test.

As I follow up with guests each week, I notice where they sit. In some cases, I have picked up the phone and called the members seated next to our guests to see if they met them or remembered anything about them. So….let your people know to GET THEIR GAME ON…you never know when you may get a call! On that same note, if you meet a guest on Sunday and think your information could be useful in helping us help them find their way at Boston Avenue. Please share.

Sunday School Visitor Cards- Thank you for using them!

New duplicate forms went out to classes this week. I hope you found them helpful! Forms are intended for new visitors or if you would like more information from a frequent guest. After a visitor has filled out the duplicate form once, you don’t need to make them do it again every week (Unless you think the possibility of less paperwork will help them join your class!). If a visitor returns after completing the form, listing their name on the Sunday School roster is all we need in the office. Thank you so much for your help in following up with our guests!

Susan Rose Family this coming Friday

Thank you all for those who have signed up, we all appreciate your support and kindness. We still have room (more is always better in my book) anyone else still wanting to assist. Please contact Lynn Jessee to let her know you are interested.

In Love and Peace,

Jim

For Susan Rose and her family; (her father (Robert Heckart) passed away on August 3).

I talked to Susan and they will be doing the service at BA on 21st at 1:00.They would like us to do dinner for 30 at 11:00. Susan does have food restrictions with oranges, bananas and grapes. They will also need a gluten free protein for her sister and her. Maranatha will furnish the meats but I will need volunteers to help serve and to bring sides, salads and desserts.

Thanks so much for all your help.

Lynn

Friends,

Good to see everyone this Sunday.

I always appreciate Mr. Tobler’s lessons. It is very interesting to consider/see our Jesus Christ as a child would. We look forward to his next lesson.
