Class newsletter for February 25th

Greetings, Maranatha Friends,

Dr. Joel Panciera continued his thought-provoking series Sunday with Part Two of “Is There a Limit to God’s Love?” He contrasted views from Nahum and Jonah, which included a review of Part One.

Welcome to our visitors! They included Apartment M resident Amber Young; Andrea Davis’s brother, John Hood, from Mill Valley, California; and Nayeli and Yesenia, members of the Sistema Choir that sang with the Chorister Choir at the 11:00 service.

Thanks to Allene and Rex Donley and Brenda Worthington for our refreshments and to Janet Purinton for our class prayer last week. Snacks this Sunday will be provided by Sharon Earley and Jim and Julee Embrey, and Lynn Russell will lead us in prayer.

Happy Birthday this week to Ray Latchem (2/26) and Julee Embrey (2/29). Art and Karen Campbell are celebrating their anniversary on the 26th.

Mark your calendar for Daylight Saving Time, which begins on March 11, and for the Cooking Class(an auction item) on March 31. The auction dinner at the Carpenters’ will take place on April 7, for those who purchased it, and BASE Camp is April 22nd.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Discover Boston Avenue this Sunday, March 4, will provide a forum to learn about various service opportunities that Boston Avenue offers, including Sunday School classes. Mickey and Carol Maus will represent Maranatha class. Angie Dale complimented Melanie Shepherd on the display. Pam Sherman is preparing a poster for the display, and she has asked that class members contact her by Monday to provide a couple of sentences on “What Maranatha means to me.”

Donations for Lights on for Cookson were still being taken Sunday. It may not be too late, If you’d like to participiate.

Donation request forms for our Maranatha Finance Committee are needed by this Sunday, March 4. They were emailed out and are available in our classroom. They should be returned to Kendall Carpenter’s mailbox in the choir room, number 46, or emailed to her.

JOYS AND CONCERNS:

Denzil reported that Art Campbell’s surgery on Friday went as expected. They expect good news this week.

Congratulations to Jeff and Julie Allen, who are expecting a new grandbaby! Their daughter Rebecca’s baby is due in August.

Clarkie Williams’s older brother Freddie was discharged from the hospital last week, but she herself was sick on Friday and had been in the emergency room. She asked for prayers for testing on Monday.

Jeanie Payton asked for prayers for their son-in-law’s father, Mike Dilbeck, who had a procedure to remove a melanoma on Monday.

Angie Dale’s mother, Lou Ann Dale, has been hospitalized. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Shari Goodwin’s mother is recovering in rehab and her father is fighting the flu. They would appreciate your prayers as well.
