Maranatha newsletter for Sunday, March 18

Greetings, Maranatha friends,

Dr. Joel Panciera will share the final lesson in his excellent series, “Is There a Limit to God’s Love?” this Sunday. This week he will apply his previous lessons more specifically to our world today. You won’t want to miss it! Be sure to come a little early one last time this week. His lesson will begin promptly at 9:45 so that Joel can leave to rehearse the choir, then we will conduct class business afterward.

You can find last Sunday’s recording here:

JOYS AND CONCERNS:

Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to David Cooley’s family. We will provide dinner for the family after his funeral service this Friday, and all who are able are encouraged to come sit together at the service to celebrate the life of our dear friend. Please let Allene and Rex Donley know if you can help provide food for the family on Friday evening. Instructions were sent out earlier this afternoon.

Our youth team is working in Nicaragua this week. Our adult mission team returned safely today from their construction work in the Houston area.

Paul and Mary Staat are celebrating their granddaughter Lucy’s second birthday.

Walter Berg was expecting biopsy results on Monday and Jimmy Berg is concerned for a friend who is traveling.

Glenna Arnott’s friend Delores needs prayers, as she has two sons with significant health problems.

CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Easter schedule on April 1 has been changed from years past. There will be a sunrise service at 6:30 in the park (Rose Chapel if it is raining), then worship services at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Sunday School classes will meet from 10:00 to 10:45. Also, the Easter Eve Service, which is led by our children, will begin Saturday, March 31, at 4:00 p.m. It will be followed by an Easter egg hunt in the park.

Base Camp has been postponed from April 21 to August 26. Watch for more details later.

A work team is being formed to do fencing and repair work at the Boys’ Ranch near Gore on April 21, and possibly on the morning of April 22. They are looking for volunteers to help. Contact Richard Wansley or Rev. Sara Pugh Montgomery for more information.

Hope your week is going well. We’ll see you Friday afternoon, if you can make it for David’s service, or Sunday.

Blessings –
