Newsletter for Easter Sunday

Happy Eastertide, Maranatha friends!

What a great morning we had in class as we celebrated Easter last Sunday! Thanks to all who brought the delicious food, and to Ed Payton for his update on our church mission outreach. We were also happy to welcome and visit with friends from the Pilgrimage Class.

Ed informed us that, though the numbers are far from complete (for instance, no youth numbers are included), our church groups who reported their mission efforts for 2017 gave almost a half million dollars to those in need through outreach agencies and ministries.

In addition, we know of 2912 volunteers who gave their time to help others and $31,430 in goods that were donated. At least 107,011 people were served. That’s impressive!

CLASS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sarah Morice Brubaker from Phillips Theological Seminary will be our teacher this Sunday and next, April 8 and 15. Those who have heard her before know that we’re in for a real treat! We will also have a brief report from our Maranatha Finance Committee.

Welcome to our visitors, Ed Smith, Angelica Wells, Jennifer Tag, and the Pilgrimage Class members.

Thanks to Scott Morgan for leading us in prayer. Sharon Chucoski will give our prayer next Sunday and the Chucoskis and Kendall Carpenter will be our hosts and provide snacks.

Happy birthday to John Harkins, Jim Banes, and Rob Reck. Happy anniversary to Jim and Sherry Griffin and Dan and Martha Blevins.

JOYS AND CONCERNS:

Janet Purinton fell and injured her lower vertebra three weeks ago. She will get a cortisone injection next Tuesday that will hopefully get rid of the inflammation and return her to normal. She’s planning to be back in class as soon as possible.

Please keep our public school teachers, students and Oklahoma Legislature in your prayers.

Pam Sherman will have foot surgery on the 17th.

Denzil Tallent is celebrating after his 4-year cancer check was all clear.

Jim Embrey’s friend Cheryl is battling brain cancer.

Please keep all of these in your prayers.

Best wishes for an enjoyable and fruitful week. We’ll see you Sunday!
