Dear Maranatha friends,

We thank Dr. Sarah Morice Brubaker, soon-to-be Associate Professor of Theology at Phillips Theological Seminary, for her second lesson on truthfulness. You can hear it at http://www.bostonavenue.org/uploads/media/audio/180415maranatha.mp3.

Marita Morgan will teach "The Kingdom of God" the next two Sundays, then Dr. Ruth Weston will teach “Protestant Perspectives on Mary” on May 6 and 13.

Be sure to mark your calendar for May 20, when Rabbi Sherman will be our teacher. We will join Pilgrimage, Journey and the Pastor’s Bible Study Class in the sanctuary that day. More details as we get closer!

CLASS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thanks to Sharon Chucoski for leading us in prayer and to the Rowes and LeDouxs for our snacks. Sarah Maldonado will give our prayer this Sunday and Glenna Arnott and Karen Campbell will be our hosts.

Happy birthday to Ed Vierheller, Joey Manduano and Mickey Maus this week. Congratulations to the Manduanos and Linskys, who are celebrating anniversaries.

JOYS AND CONCERNS:

Janet Purinton is now fighting cellulitis, in addition to injuries from her recent fall, and is on IV antibiotics.

LouAnn Dale, Angie’s mom, is hospitalized and undergoing tests for significant lung and heart issues.

Pam Sherman will have foot surgery on the 19h. She may need help with transportation for a while.

Jim Embrey’s friend Ashley is working to overcome a meth addiction.

The Staat Family is dealing with multiple challenges.

Jeannie Payton’s friend Valerie is having a hard time.

Wanda Williams thanked the class for our prayers. Her son-in-law is slowly recovering and is now in physical therapy.

CHURCH NEWS:

The Senior Seekers trip to Gilcrease Museum to tour the Norman Rockwell exhibit is this Thursday, April 19, at 11:30. Call Melanie Linsky at the church, 918-583-5181, for information or to make a reservation.

United Methodist Women will host Mighty! Guidance to Personal Empowerment and Self Esteem on Sunday May 6, from 12:15-2:00 p.m. in room J221. All are welcome. Presenters are Linda Alegria (Internal Mindfulness) and Rodney Garner (Personal Safety). There is no cost to attend, but a box lunch may be purchased in advance for $10.

OTHER REQUESTS:

Ann Smith, Director of Neighbor for Neighbor, came to class to invite everyone to their fundraiser, an Exhibition of Racin’ & Ropin’ with a humorist relative of Will Rogers as a special guest. It will take place on April 28 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Tom and Courtney O’Brien’s estate, 6655 Riva Ridge Road, and will include a live auction and “lots of delicious BBQ and eats.” Call 918-425-5578, ext. 101 for more information or to RSVP.

Julie and Jeff Allen invite you to participate in the 2018 Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma’s Rally Walk and 5K on May 20th at the ORU Mabee Center. Doors open at 1:00 p.m., 5K starts at 2:00 and the walk begins at 2:05 p.m.

Jeff writes, “This fundraiser is an opportunity for Tulsans to come together to raise awareness and celebrate the lives of more than 15,000 Oklahomans living with Parkinson’s Disease.
