Maranatha news email for July 8-15

Greetings, Maranatha friends-

Hope your week is off to a good start. Rev. Sarah Pugh Montgomery will be our teacher this Sunday and next, July 15 and 22. Her topic is, “HOW WE WORSHIP GOD: PRAYING WITH SCRIPTURE.” It promises to be a great series.

Many thanks to Rev. Susanna Weslie Southard for her challenging lessons on Esther and Judith the past two Sundays. You can hear her presentations, and all of our past lessons, at http://www.bostonavenue.org/maranatha.html .

CLASS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome to our guests/honorary members, Carlene Tallent and Kate Staat Barnes.

Happy birthday to Patty Banes on July 8th and Frieda Reck on July 11th!Happy anniversary to Dave and Carol Grim on July 8th and Gary and Patti Smith on July 9th!

Thanks to Sharon Chucoski, who filled in for Jimmy Berg to lead us in prayer last week, and to Mickey and Carol Maus and Ed and Judith Payton for our snacks. Bruce Chucoski will give our prayer this Sunday, and our hosts will be Ginny and Jerry LeDoux and “S. Morgan.” (Scott and Suzy, I hope you know which one of you that is!)

JOYS AND CONCERNS:

Our friend Jimmy Berg was hit by a car as he stepped off a curb after the fireworks show on July 4. In addition to a road burn on his chest and four staples in his head, he sustained a back injury and is in a brace for six weeks. Please remember him and Walter in your prayers. Cards can be sent to him at their home address, 6902 S Houston Tulsa, OK 74132.

After watching our class in action supporting the Staat family last Thursday, I have to wonder what people do who don’t have a faith community. You are a blessing! Please continue to keep the family in your prayers.

Pam Sherman’s 17-year-old grandson is getting to play in an invitation baseball competition in Arkansas.

Glenna Arnott asked for prayers for the family of Doug Palmer, who died of cancer last week, and especially for his friend Nancy Daugherty.

We continue to remember the boys who are being rescued from the cave in Thailand, and to pray that all are brought out safely.

Please continue to remember Jennifer Hall in your prayers as she battles cancer.
