Maranatha news for September 23-29

Happy Wednesday, Maranatha –

We’re in for a real treat the next five Sundays! This Sunday, the Rev. Dr. Lisa Davison, Professor of Hebrew Bible at Phillips Theological Seminary, will teach us, then the Rev. Dr. Mouzon Biggs, Jr. will teach us during the month of October. It’ll be great to hear both of these outstanding scholars!

Last Sunday we gathered early, conducted class business, then went down to hear David present the State of the Church address. The video of his exciting presentation is available on our church’s Youtube channel, and you can also access it at . It appears with the sermons. The videos that appeared during the address, as well as some additional videos that Caitlin Dryke, our Director of Communications, is producing, will appear on our Boston Avenue Youtube channel and Facebook and Twitter pages over the next couple of weeks.

If you wish to participate in Boston Avenue’s daily devotional, the prayer for the day is now being posted on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at 6:00 every morning. You can also sign up for it in the "Connect" section of our website.

Everyone is welcome to share their prayers for the future of our church on social media by using the hashtag #PrayYourPiece. You’ll see others’ prayers there as well.

Welcome to Michael Dishman, who joined Boston Avenue Sunday as a Maranatha member – and who is now engaged to fellow Maranatha member Wanda Williams. Congratulations to both of you!

Happy birthday to Susan Hamilton and Alan Smith this week.

Thanks to Lynn Jesse Russell for leading us in prayer last Sunday, and to Art and Karen Campbell and Rick and Melanie Evans for our snacks. Richard Wansley will give our prayer this week and Glenna Arnott (guilty/setup) and the Butterworths (healthy/cleanup) will be our hosts.

Bob Russell had a CTE on Monday, then will have a mitral valve procedure on October 3 to fix a leakage.

Sharon Earley’s father is fighting infection after a knee replacement.

Please keep our classmate, Jennifer Hall, in your prayers as she undergoes chemo to battle cancer.

Please hold in prayer the people in the Carolinas, our church after the State of the Church address, and the travelers from our church who are heading to England to see Wesley sites.
