Maranatha news for November 11-17

Hello, Maranatha friends –

Many thanks to Paula Gradney Garner for updating us on our church’s security measures last Sunday. If you missed her lesson, you can hear it and any of our previous lessons at http://www.bostonavenue.org/maranatha.html .

Rev, EvaMarie Campbell will teach us this Sunday, Novemer 18th, then we will enjoy a Thanksgiving brunch on the 25th. Our annual Advent series, taught by our own class members, will begin the first Sunday in December. Can you believe it’s almost time for Advent lessons already??

CLASS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome to our guests, Maranatha offspring Derek Blankenship and Matthew Klein!

Happy belated birthday to Cisco Maldonado on November 2nd and Happy birthday to Nancy Manduano on November 12th; to Sharon Chucoski today, the 14th; and to Carol Maus and Walter Berg on Friday, the 16th.

Rick and Roger still need volunteers to serve as our class president, vice president-missions, and news email next year. Are you willing to fill one of these slots?

Our mission team and veterans were recognized in class. Thank you for your service!

Thanks to Susan Day for leading our prayer last Sunday, and to Suzy and Rob Morgan and the Butterworths for our snacks. Michael Dishman will have our prayer this Sunday, and Judith and Ed Payton (setup/healthy) and Carol and Mickey Maus (cleanup/guilty) will be our hosts.

MISSIONS:

Our annual Christmas Party and Auction on December 14 will be here before you know it. Cost to attend is $50 per person. Scott Gardner and Jim McCann, our stellar auctioneers, would like to have your auction items as soon as possible, and have as many as possible. The first entry has already come it! Please get your information sheets to them quickly so that all auction items can be published before the party. All proceeds go to missions!

Dave Grim passed a signup sheet for volunteers to serve dinner at Redemption Church on November 25. He also needs people to bring a pie or cake

Kendall Carpenter has received four requests for funding, and she will bring a recommendation for our $5,000 disbursement this Sunday.

Our Christmas party for Neighbor for Neighbor is December 6, and volunteers are needed for that. A signup sheet was passed Sunday in class, but more helpers are needed. It’s a great evening!

SOCIALS:

Remember the five class party dates for next year, and don’t plan any auction item parties on these dates. We want to avoid any conflicts! These dates are:

June 14, 2019 – Potluck Dinner & Trivia Event

August 16, 2019 – Diner Dinner & Movie at B.A. – Hamburgers & Hot Dogs in the Diner & a movie in the Theater

November 8, 2019 – Pizza Dinner & Bunco

JOYS AND CONCERNS – Please keep these in your prayers:

Pam Sherman’s cousin lives in California where fires have been raging. Pam hasn’t heard from her, and is concerned.

Congratulations to Sarah and Sam Smith, whose daughter Keeley is due to have her baby very soon!

Congratulations to Mary and Clark Bundren, whose daughter Kara will be married this Saturday in Oklahoma City

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday – Thanks for all you mean to our class!

– Shari
