Maranatha news email

Greetings, Maranatha –

We have some important information in this week’s email. I’ve starred some of the important items and tried to make it easy to scan – please take a look.

MARANATHA LESSONS:

Thanks to Jerry LeDoux for his interesting lesson last Sunday, the first in our Advent series. If you missed hearing it, you can find it and other previous lessons at http://www.bostonavenue.org/maranatha.html .

Ken Privett will teach us this Sunday, and that will be a treat! He will be followed by Pam Low on December 16 and Carol Maus on December 23.

CLASS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome to our visitors, Karen Gillie-Tinlin, Stephen Cropp, and Linda Berner – Rick Evans’s sister. It’s also great to have Jim Griffin back with us.

Happy birthday to Shari Goodwin on December 6th and Melanie Evans on the 8th.

Roger and Rick are still looking for volunteers to do our newsletter email next year. Please contact them if you are willing to help.

Thanks to Wanda Williams and Glenna Arnott for our snacks Sunday . Clifford Webster will lead us in prayer this week and Susan Hamilton (guilty/cleanup) and Pam Shelrlman (healthy/setup) will host.

Class giving year to date is $17,725.

MISSIONS:

***Sharon Earley needs all gifts for the children at Redemption Church by this Sunday! Their party is next week. If you drew a child’s name, please get it to Sharon, or be sure to bring it to class Sunday in a gift bag with the child’s name attached. Suggested amount is $25-$35.

The Neighbor for Neighbor Christmas Party is today, December 6. This event is great fun, and volunteers are welcome. Plan to arrive at 5:00 p.m.

*** Our annual Christmas Party and Auction is coming up on December 14 at Tulsa Country Club. Cost to attend is $50 per person, but if that amount poses a hardship for you, please contact Susie Butterworth – there are funds to help. If you can’t attend the party, you can assign a proxy to bid for you at the auction. Auctioneers Scott Gardner and Jim McCann need your auction item info ASAP so that they can publish a list of live auction items for those who can’t attend and want to use a proxy.

Auction trivia: This is the 25th year for our Christmas auction. About $1990 was raised at the first auction, and we thought that was amazing. Over the years, our class has raised over a quarter of a million for missions – $281, to be exact! What a generous class!

Work Area on Mission is hosting a Chili Cookoff again this year! It will be January 10 (a week after the Super Bowl). Our class needs to provide a basket to be auctioned and a chili chef contestant. Can you help?

JOYS AND CONCERNS –

*** Our friend Debbie Jacoby is still having a rough time, and continues to be confined to a darkened room to let her brain rest. She is trying to stay positive, but is still fainting when she exerts herself and is dealing with a colon bleed. She may need surgery on her brain, colon, or both. Cards and prayers from our class make her day! Her current address is:

Debbie Jacoby, Villages of Southern Hills, room 1207, 5721 S Lewis Ave, Tulsa 74105

Valerie Grogan is continuing to improve. She was able to participate in Lessons and Carols Sunday.

Congratulations to Amber Young and Jerry Harris on their wedding!

Congratulations to new grandparents Sam and Sarah Smith! Camden Lorraine Ballard, their sweet granddaughter, was born November 24 weighing 5 pounds, 11 ounces. Her parents are Keeley and Chris.
