Maranatha Newsletter – July 14-20

Our class was taught by Delene Tegeler on a new version of the 10 commandments. This week she focused on commandments 2 (Thou shall not front.) and 3 (Thou shall not trip.). She will be continuing her discussion of the book "Not Safe for Church: Ten Commandments for Reaching New Generations" by Jasmine Smothers and F. Douglas Jr. Powe during the next two weeks.

Class Celebrations

Birthdays this week include: Darlene Lorenz (16), Steve Schnitzer (20), Mark Butterworth (20) and Rosa Castellanos (20). Ed and Judith Payton (17) and Carol and Mickey Maus (19).

Prayer
Jerry LeDoux gave the prayer today. Janet Purinton will have our prayer next week.

Snacks
Becky Morris and Glenna Arnott provided delicious snacks for the class today. The Shepherds and Becky Morris will be serving snacks next week.

Visitor

Evelyn Painter visited our class today. We hope she comes back soon!

Announcements

  • Senior Seekers have a walking group, the Sneaker Club, on Tuesdays at 9:30 am and Yoga on 10:45 am on Fridays.
  • Numerous Maranatha class members volunteered at BASE camp on Sunday afternoon. Over 25,000 pounds of food was packaged for Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable.
  • Next Sunday, July 21, we will have lunch before attending BABA as a class.
  • There are still a few volunteer opportunities for Family Promise during the next two weeks.
  • Redemption Dinner will be July 28.

Joys and Concerns

  • Pam Sherman reported that her son-in-law, Michael Caballero, is going to have back surgery due to a work injury.
  • The Paytons announced that their daughter, JoAnna is pregnant!
