Maranatha Newsletter – October 6-12

Sorry this is so late! I went out of town and it totally slipped my mind until today. Maybe receiving it today will encourage everyone to attend tomorrow to hear Dr. Mouzon Biggs continue his series of lessons for the month of October on Theological Truth. Previously he has taught on the topics of the Torah, the Gospels, the Prophets, and the Letters of Paul. In these lessons he will lead us through the six creeds in the United Methodist Hymnal to discover the truths of our faith.

Class Celebrations

Birthdays this week include Scott Morgan (7), Jim McCann (8), Amber Young (9), and Karen Campbell (12). There were no anniversaries this week.

Michael Dishman gave the prayer today. Next Sunday Pam Sherman will be giving the prayer.

The Goodwin and Glenna Arnott provided snacks for the class today. The Embreys and the Recks will be serving snacks next. week.

  • The Mission trip was this week in Port Arthur, Texas. They arrived home, tired but invigorated from the opportunity to serve.
  • We served dinner at the Tulsa Day Center on Friday.
  • The next class social will be Pizza and Bunco on Friday, November 8.
  • The Redemption dinner will be November 21.
  • The Christmas Auction Party is Saturday, December 7.
  • Don’t forget: It isn’t too early to consider thinking about how you will serve the class next year.

Joys and Concerns

  • Ed Payton injured his knee and was not able to go on the mission trip.
  • Martha Blevins asked for prayers for her friend, Vicki, who has colon cancer.
  • Gary Smith thanked the class for the cards and concerns shown to him during and following his back surgeries.
  • Cisco Maldonado is continuing to approve and getting his energy back.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday and we’ll look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
