Caranatha–Brenda Worthington

Jim or Lynn-

My brother’s wife, Donna Ward, passed away peacefully Monday after a valiant ten year struggle with a cancerous brain tumor. Funeral will be Saturday in Wyoming so David and I are leaving Friday.

Prayers are what we need most right now. Lots of family members are traveling for her service. Just because you ‘know’ something is imminent, it doesn’t make it any easier. Many thanks,

Brenda Worthington

From Bob and the Thomas Families

Thank you for the message. As far as food and that type of thing we’re in great shape. We have been blessed with a wonderful father, who lived a great life with health issues only surfacing relatively recently. We are blessed to have many of our families holding him to the end. We know the holidays are filled with family rituals, plans, travel, etc. and it is important to us that people are with their families in the way that they have planned.  The church has been gracious in allowing us an early Christmas Eve memorial, which will help bring closure to many friends and our family. In the spirit of Christmas it just seems fitting to us to celebrate rebirth and birth in this way and in many ways to us will make future Christmas Eve’s and Christmas Day’s be that much more special for us in remembering Dad. The service will be followed with a short time to see the family in the parlor and with the same opportunity at Bill’s home immediately thereafter. Virtually no one in our family will be changing travel plans and certainly that is our hope with friends and acquaintances as well. This is Christmas, after all.  Our real hope is that those who feel drawn to the service are welcome, but others know that we are blessed in many ways, so that  a prayer or a card in lieu of this service is more than appropriate. Thanks to all for the warm embrace of thoughts and prayers.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Bill and Bob Thomas’s father, Bill Thomas Sr., died yesterday. Funeral services will be held this Saturday, Christmas Eve, at 10 a.m. in Rose Chapel. Please keep their family in your prayers, especially during the holidays. I’m not sure what their needs are at this time.

Just an FYI. Jim and I are in San Antonio because Jim’s mother is in her final days, if not her final hours.  Please pass this along to the class.
Prayers would be very much appreciated.

Gene Martin’s Mom, Betty Martin

Gene Martin’s mom, Betty Martin, passed away yesterday afternoon with family at her side, following a fall she suffered in her home 10 days ago. Services are scheduled for Saturday, October 29 at her home church (The Landing) in Glenpool.

At this time, Gene and Diane don’t need anything. As you may recall, Diane’s mom passed away three weeks ago. Prayers for comfort and strength and cards during this difficult time would be appreciated.

Maranatha may be called upon to help with a family meal when the family gathers for the weekend of the 29th. We will keep you informed.

Nancy Morgan surgery recovery

Dear Maranatha Class Members,

Classmate, Nancy Morgan, has to undergo corrective surgery this week, due to issues from her surgery last spring. Although she is not looking forward to the recovery period, she has been told it will not be as difficult as her previous experience.

Nancy has asked Maranatha classmates to provide help during the first week of her recovery and hopes to be up and around by the following week. If you are able to provide a meal for Nancy anytime between Saturday, 10/8 through Sunday, 10/16, please email me at k.brownlee(at) [substitute an “@” for the “(at)”].

I will reply to everyone with a confirmed schedule and Nancy’s address and phone number.

Thanks so much,
Karen Brownlee Campbell
