Diane Martin’s Mom

Dear Maranatha Friends,

Diane Martin’s mom, Mary Lee Wilson, passed away late Thursday afternoon at St. John’s Adult ICU.  Gene and Diane were with her, along with Diane’s dad, brother and nephew.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 20th at 11 AM in the Boston Avenue Church Rose Chapel.  Immediately following the service cookies and coffee will be available in the Parlor.

Maranatha will provide lunch for the family following the reception.  The class will purchase a ham.  We will need salads, vegetables, breads and desserts for 35 people.  We will be setting up at 10 a.m. and we will also serve and clean up.

Subject: JEANIE PAYTON UPDATE!

DEAR CLASS,

I WENT FOR MY FIRST CARDIOLOGIST VISIT YESTERDAY AND GOT A GOOD
REPORT. I DON’T SEE HIM AGAIN FOR SIX MONTHS.

IT IS STILL UNBELIEVABLE THAT I WAS THE VERY SICK LADY THEY KEEP
TELLING ME I WAS. I HAVE FELT SO GREAT SINCE THE STENT WAS PUT IN
SO I GUESS WE REALLY DO NEED OXYGEN AND BLOOD FLOW. : )

ON A SERIOUS NOTE I AM SO SO BLESSED FOR THE WAY MY SITUATION
HAPPENED. THE DR. SAID MY SITUATION WAS TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE AND NO
TESTS UP UNTIL THE EVENT WOULD SHOW. THE KEY IS LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
AND GET CHECKED OUT ASAP.

I WANT TO SINCERELY THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR PRAYERS, CALLS, THOUGHTS
AND CONCERNS AND THE MANY BEAUTIFUL AND FUNNY CARDS WHICH I’VE ENJOYED
SO MUCH.

WE HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU SOON.

JEANIE

Update on Jeanie Payton

On Friday morning Richard Payton took Jeanie to the emergency room in Broken Arrow, and discovered that she was having a heart attack. She was transported to St. John’s Hospital. As of Sunday morning she was in cardiac ICU, but she was moved to room 542 Sunday afternoon. Jeanie has the card that several of us signed in Sunday School yesterday. Richard says that really have no needs now, but they appreciate our prayers.

From: Dan Blevins
Subject: Alzheimer’s Diagnosis

William,

Please forward this on to the class.
Martha and I would appreciate it if you would keep my Father in your thoughts and prayers. He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and faces the difficult problems that come with that condition. You might also keep my Mother in your thoughts as well. She is starting to feel the load of the caretaker. The family is in the process of getting all of the help that we can for both of them.

Thanks,
Dan & Martha

Paul is still recuperating and Mary and Kate are heading back to school. If you have been thinking about taking a meal to the Staat’s, this might be a great time to jump in. To all who have helped the Staat Family during this difficult health struggle, thank you so much.

Just visit Lotsa Helping Hands and take a look at the August calendar. Many green areas are available for the taking. You will receive a reminder from the LHH website.

Thanks,

Update on Mark Rounds

An update from Mark and Anita.

William

—- Forwarded message —

Mark had his fifth and final sugery thursday. The damage to his wrist
was extensive and he will need a lot of rehab. The pain should be less
now that the plates and screws are in place and the external fixator
was removed. We want to thank you for all your thoughts, prayers, and
cards during this difficult time. Your concern has been comforting.
Love to all,
Mark & Anita

Prayer for Mark Rounds

Please keep Mark and Anita in your prayers

William

———- Forwarded message ———-
Date: Sat, Jul 2, 2011 at 10:47 AM

Maranatha Friends,
Mark suffered a six foot fall from a ladder last Sunday evening while trimming a tree in our back yard. He has a compound fracture of the left wrist with dislocation. From the Claremore ER they transported him by ambulance to St John where he was taken to surgery that night. Due to the bone being exposed they were not able to apply internal hardware to secure and instead an external device was applied after debridement/cleaning and IV antibiotics. After a two day stay in the hospital he was sent home, was seen by a hand surgeon, and had surgery(debridement/IV Ab) again thursday and friday at St John BA. Now at home he is awaiting hopefully the final surgery on thursday of next week. The main concern is infection and pain control. Please keep him in your prayers.
Thank you, Anita Rounds

Love Offering

Dear Maranatha Classmates:
This Sunday we will be taking up a love offering for the Staat family to help with extraordinary expenses during this very difficult time.
Maranatha work teams have helped a great deal with various outside projects, including lawn maintenance provided by Rick, Melanie and Michael Evans. The Roundtable Class provided a love offering in April to help with some of the preparation expenses. But there are still two major projects remaining on the “To do before Paul has Stem Cell Therapy” List:  tear out very old carpet in three bedrooms and finish wood floors or re-carpet; and replace old windows.  Both items must be coordinated to be completed during Paul’s upcoming 30-day hospital stay.
Paul and Mary are most sincerely humbled by the outpouring of love, prayers and assistance.  They never would have expected such generosity, but are more grateful to their church community than words could ever express.  Although they are blessed with excellent health insurance, they have exhausted their savings to come to this point.  It is hard to believe, but they have been dealing with illness for a year now and still have a long road ahead of them.
They would never ask for a love offering to be collected on their behalf, but so many people have asked about ways to help, in addition to providing meals, we felt that this would be an opportunity for everyone to participate at an individualized level.
If you wish to contribute, but are unable to be in Sunday School this Sunday, you may mail your check (made payable to Maranatha) to Kevin Meehan, Treasurer; 4712 S 66th E Ave; 74145.

Four Messages

(1) My sobriety, and recovery in the guidance from God

Dear Maranatha Class,

I wanted to take the time to thank you all for the love and support of each and everyone. I am doing well, I am currently living at the Mission…aka The homeless shelter, It was a god sent that there was a bed available. I am enjoying my sobriety and recovery. A bed at the sober living has opened up, so I’m attempting to find work so that I can financially afford to be a resident of that facility. I do feel that the sober living would be the best place for me because I will still have the structure I need. This will run me 100$ a week. So, I’m currently looking for full time work. I have picked up some side work, making about 250.00 a moth while I look for other means of income. The place that I am currently at will not allow my children the ability to spend time with me. So, in my inquire about the sober living the children will be able to stay the night on
occasion and also spend time with me whenever they would like. This is a goal of mine that I hope to accomplish soon. I am attending one to two meeting a day, through NA and AA. I also am attending NA group functions. These meetings are an asset to my recovery. Please keep me and my children in your prayers and hope for the re-unification soon.
” WALKING THROUGH FEAR”
If we still cling to something we will not let go, we ask god to help us be willing….

Again thank you for the love and support:)

God Bless

Bethany Willyard ..

Kyla, Krysten and Logan.

Please share this with the class thank you.

(2) College Graduates

A message from Shari Goodwin —

Hi, William,

I am working on next weeks issue of The Word, which will include information about all church members who have earned college degrees since last June.

Since so many of our Maranatha children are graduating, would you please ask everyone in our class to let me know if they have someone in the family who has received a college degree this year (if they haven’t already called or emailed me). They can call me (918-699-0132) or email sharigoodwin(at)bostonavenue.org and leave the name, college attended and degree earned. Don’t want to leave anyone out!

Thanks so much –
Shari Goodwin

(3) Friend in need

A request by Mary Elliott —

I have a friend that is needing a place to live.  They thought they had something lined up and it fell through at the last minute.  They have dogs and would like to keep them if at all possible.  They need to move in less than three weeks!  Does anyone have any ideas?

(4) Reenactment Ceremony, Floral Haven, Memorial Day

Reenactment of Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown
