Our speaker was Susanna Southard from Phillips Theological Seminary who spoke on Deuteronomy 34. It is amazing how much we can learn from the Bible.

Boston Avenue United Methodist Church and John Burroughs Elementary School Partner’s In Education since 1999. Burroughs Elementary, 1924 North Cincinnati Ave Tulsa OK. Student population is approximately 363 with the school at 99% poverty. In 2007, was named the Title 1 Distinguished School. This school year Burroughs has added 6th Grade and ED class.
Ways you can support Burroughs Elementary:
1. Be a mentor through the Big Brother and Big Sisters School Based Program
2. Pick an apple from the Apple Tree and fill the request.
3. Provide funding for special projects through our Boston Avenue and Burroughs Together Account

Cookson Hills Christmas Giving October 1 through 31
It is time once again to collect gifts for our United Methodist Mission at Cookson. Tables will be in Bishops’ Hall each Sunday in October to receive these gifts. All gifts must be NEW and UNWRAPPED. They will be taken to the Cookson Center for their Christmas store shopping. Gift list are available in Bishops Hall, Information Desk Window and in the church Paper (The Word).

The Front Porch Project of Tulsa, 2 day Community Training Sunday Sunday October 23 12PM to 5:30PM at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. Lunch and Refreshments will be provided. The Front Porch Project is aimed at training people from all walks of life on how to safely and appropriately intervene in such circumstances and this past year became the latest Primary Prevention Program of The Parent Child Center of Tulsa, a child abuse prevention agency.

Ugandan Orphan Choir, November 18, 19 and 20th. Anyone who is willing to open their house and provide Choir members and their Families a place to stay please contact Dr Joel Panciera.

For those who are unhappy with that, let us keep in mind that Christmas is on a Sunday this year. Whether we have Sunday School and Church on Christmas or not, I don’t think we will make much progress Christmas Day, aka: low attendance. As I said in class and will now say again, for those who are unhappy with the current officers (We know you’re out there) here is your chance to sign up for Office and show us how, and possibly set a standard for future Officers.

In short make your voice and presence known during the Election!

I will not be running for Office in 2012. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity, I’m very grateful.
