Hello all,
Good to see everyone this week. Attached you will find our weekly newsletter with attachments of interest. I hope you will be able to attend one of the many services Boston Avenue will be putting on this Christmas eve. See attached for more details.
Remember the reason for the season, be at peace with your family and friends. Remember those who cannot be at home for the holidays and our service members both in and out of uniform…we miss them and keep them in our prayers for safety and strength in their missions.
I am looking forward to this coming Sunday brunch, it will be Julee and my last Sunday school class. We will be having a "year in review" to reflect back on 2015.
2016 promises to be a great year with Jim McCann at the helm and I know that we will be in for another fantastic year supporting our church and community with our donations both in work and finances.
God Bless, Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year,
Jim/Julee

Top Ten Reasons to volunteer for Mission Coordinator, 2016
10.Go to places you don’t usually go in Tulsa.
9.Sam’s Club is always festive this time of year.
8.Meet a classmate you’ve being referring to as “that guy" or "that gal" for the last five or ten
years.
7.We guarantee you’ll see more than 1,000 smiles in a year’s time. In fact, here’re two to get you
started!
6.Do it with a partner and play a weekly game of “Who’s got the Prayer List?"
5.Enhance your clipboard management skills.
4.McCann less likely than Embrey to require salutes and push-ups.
3.That feeling of relief you get when everyone shows up for the project.
2.Earn credit card points by fronting cash for supplies.
1.Helping Others to Help Others.
Hello all,
Merry Christmas to all. Attached you will find our weekly newsletter and other attachments of interest.
A couple of notes of interest:
1. Please pay Susie and/or Mark Butterworth your auction purchases as soon as possible, we really want to start the 2016 season off strong. Our first distribution of funds should be in March.
2. Thank you to Judith and Ed Payton for volunteering to be our 2016 Auctioneers/managers. Mark your calendar for 2 December 2016!
2.a. We still need a volunteer to fill the Mission manager position. This is a great job to meet others and see Christians in action. Remember, we will all be helping you.
3. Roger and I installed the fan for the Staat’s. We referred them to a plumber and the Maranatha Love Offering covered the cost $158 to pay for the repair. A lot cheaper than we anticipated. Next will be their furnace pre-winter check out. More later.
4. Miss Oliva Jordan Thomas will be representing the USA in the Miss Universe competition in Las Vegas on 20 December. The Thomas’s will be in Las Vegas to watch the show, look for them on TV. The show will be aired on Fox 23, 6-9PM, 20 December. See attached for some info on Olivia.
5. Please help PAM LOW up date our Maranatha roster for accuracy. She works hard on this project, but needs your input to ensure we have accurate info. Please email her to give her your updates.
6. Please provide feedback to Michelle Place on speakers you would like to hear from and what you thought of the speakers we have had so far. It is important to her and us that we measure our class what works and what doesn’t work. Michelle spends a lot of time on this volunteer job and it would be helpful to her to gauge her success so far.
Peace,
Jim/Julee

Class,
We have approximately $400 left over in our Love Offering.
Roger and I went over to Paul & Mary’s home and installed a ceiling fan (provided by them). However, in regards to the leak in the bathroom, it was beyond our skill set…water was literally streaming out at a high rate of flow. It appeared to us that this has been going on for a long time.
Roger and I referred Paul to a plumbing company (Dunrite) to do the repair.
I will be asking the class tomorrow for a discussion and motion to use the remaining money to help the Staat’s with the plumbing bill.

"The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
All,
Per Rob Davis:
Bobby Davis was involved in a car accident this past Wednesday on Yale. He broke both bones in his lower leg; he had surgery on Thursday to have pins put in this leg to mend them. He had his nose broke too and will have that surgery this coming Thursday. He was in the hospital for a total of three days.
They are home now and have food/snacks to last them for a good while. They do not have any needs as of this moment, but would appreciate prayers for Bobby’s speedy and healthy recovery.

Jim
Team,
Catching everyone up on Mission work.
1. Roger Rowe and I r2 (removed/replaced; pronounced in the maintenance world, "R-squared") the ceiling fan in their kitchen. Code 1 (good to go).
1.a. Roger worked on the bathtub leaking faucet. We cannot fix this (beyond our skill set), the actual brass water housing is cracked; this will require a plumber and materials. I am guessing around $300’ish to fix.
2. Roger has purchased the laptop and software for the computer for Carmen, the UMC youth living at the Tahlequah Methodist home. He and I will be delivering it tomorrow to her case worker in Tahlequah. More later on that.
2.a. Charlotte’s and Roger’s offer to the class was matching funds, up to $500 for the laptop other related computer stuff.
2.b. BOTTOM LINE & a LONG STORY SHORT: Roger researched and worked a very good deal on a laptop and software, so with matching funds, WE HAVE approximately $350’ish dollars left over from the Love Offering.
3. Proposal to the class: I would like to propose to use the remaining money to reimburse the Staat’s on the plumbing fixture for the bathtub. The plumber will be there tomorrow afternoon for the repair. I will bring this up for consideration this Sunday in class. If approved, I will get the actual cost and do the math with Susie and the Paul.
4. While at the Staat’s home, he asked me to return to Maranatha some Tupperware that people used to deliver the food to them. I placed all of it on the counter in the Maranatha room. Please pick it up this Sunday and take it home. At the end of December, if still there, I donate it to Goodwill or the church. It’s gotta go, include the food warmer below the paper sack.
More later,
Jim/Roger
Debbie had her second surgery this afternoon in Oklahoma City. Steve sent this update for updating the class.

Hey Barb – Deb completed her follow up surgery this afternoon. They patched a crack or seem in the bone and hope that will resolve the headaches. Time will confirm the success. Continued prayers appreciated but in the interim nothing we need. Our daughter Shannon, surgical Physicians Assistant, is here and helps a lot with communication and comfort for her mother.
Thanks for all your concern and prayers.

All,
What a wonderful time of year it is for us and our families and to compound it, we all get to spend it together. Don’t miss all of the great Advent programs we have at Boston Avenue. Lessons and Carols was and is always a spiritually moving and blessed event.
We are still looking to fill two key positions for 2016, Mission coordinator and Auction manager. Please remember that many hands make light work–and you know we all help each other out–you don’t have to shoulder all of the work by yourself; we never leave a classmate behind.
Attached you will find our weekly newsletter and other important info concerning–us!
Peace and Goodwill to all,
Jim/Julee

See below from Mary. I can do the fan/light assembly and washers, but would like a helper on these projects.
Let me know,

From Mary Staat:
Here’s the update.
They are probably just keeping Paul 4 days this time. Probably going home Tuesday morning’ish. Then back for another round right after right after Christmas.
Is there anyone able to install a ceiling fan? I’m going today to buy a new light and fan for our kitchen. Old one died a couple of weeks ago and haven’t had time till today to think about it. We also need a washer replace on bathtub faucet and kitchen faucet and kitchen faucet tightened.
Mary
PS Paul said it’s ok to ask. He’s not been and not goin to be in shape to do it for a while.
