The memorial service for Rob Reck’s brother, Russell Reck, Jr. will be Saturday, March 7, at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow.

Lynn Jesse asked for prayers for her sister-in-law, who is in critical condition, and the family.

Melanie Evans expressed joy about the recent Israel trip that several class members participated in. It was the most fascinating experience she has ever had and she encourages everyone to make the trip. There was a strong faith community among those who made the trip. They experienced no problems and felt very safe. David Wiggs is already planning for the next trip.

If you miss announcing a prayer request in class, feel free to email me at earleysharon1 with your request.

Other Class Announcements
It is time again to consider the contributions that our class will be making. Attached is the donations request form that you may use to submit a requested donation. The deadline for submission is Sunday, March 29. The form should be given to Kendall Carpenter.

Rob Reck’s Brother’s Funeral

Michael,

Frieda and Rob have asked for our class help in providing some additional food for Rob’s brother’s funeral this Saturday May 7th at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran church in Broken Arrow. Christy Hackler who is charge of the meal at their church has asked for 2 large fruit trays (maybe 3 regular trays) and 2 or 3 kinds of cookies. You could drop them off at my house (1376 E 26th St or Frieda’s 6218 E 78th St) Friday or early Saturday. You may also drop them off at the church gymnasium if you live in Broken Arrow and that’s easier for you. The church closes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and opens at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. They will be feeding 40 -50 people. Please let me know if you are interested in helping and where you will be delivering the item or if you would need me to pick it up.

Thanks,

Sherry Griffin

Volunteer Opportunity

Hey yall! We’ve got a one day opportunity to make a difference in a child’s reading ability by doing a Tutor for the Day event at Burroughs Elementary on Friday, March 6 from 10-12:30am! Here’s a look at the schedule for that day:

10:00 am – Welcome & Training

10:30 am – Session #1

11:15 am – Notes & break

11:25 am – Session #2

12:30 pm – Wrap up & call to action

We’re looking for 8-12 folks to join us on this day where you’ll get an orientation, tutor two different students, and then have a time to reflect and process! It’s a great way to put your toe in the water and learn a bit more before a full commitment. Even if you don’t think you’d ever be able to make a long term commitment to Reading Partners, this one day will help our center at Burroughs get some much needed make up sessions done so that our students are ready to succeed in their reading! RSVP by Tuesday, March 2 to Rev. Sara Pugh Montgomery at sarapughmontgomery or 918-699-0127. Feel free to pass this information along to others or email me back if you have any questions!

peace and love,

Sara Pugh Montgomery
